As a companion to my previous post on the history of Titusville’s ‘The Island’ community, I thought it would be fun to share photos I recently took of some historic homes in the area, along with some details about the provenance of each.
See below and enjoy!
- The c. 1835 Federal style Joseph Titus House built by the second Joseph Titus on the north end of River Drive, one of the earliest existing residences in the village.
- An Italianate vernacular style home, designed by noted Lambertville architect Captain James Bird c. 1872.
- An original example of Greek Revival architecture on ‘The Island,’ the c. 1853 J. Hart House has since seen later alterations.
- A P.S. Van Cleve House built in the Italianate style on River Drive c. 1860
- A c. 1840 Federal vernacular style home along River Drive
