The National Association of Realtors Leadership Team has appointed River Valley Realty owner Kim Ward Bacso a Federal Political Coordinator for the 116th Congress. Kim will be working with newly elected Representative Tom Malinowski from NJ’s 7th Congressional District.
The Realtor community depends on FPC’s to be their voice of real estate, and to educate policymakers on the issues critical to the industry.
Kim recently completed a two day Advocacy Academy in Washington DC to review the legislative priorities of NAR during this congressional term. These include the National Flood Insurance Program, restructuring student loan debt, and Fair Housing legislation to include sexual orientation. Kim said “This advocacy training enabled me to make the connections between DC and our clients. For example, the actions, or inactions, of the House Financial Services Committee affects a buyer’s ability to obtain flood insurance.”
In 2015, Kim was appointed the NAR Director for the Hunterdon Somerset Association of Realtors. In 2016 she was appointed to the NAR Conventional Financing and Mortgage Committee , and in 2018 she began her term with NJ Realtors Political Action Committee, as a Trustee. Kim adds, “As a Realtor with 24 years of experience, it’s exciting for me on a professional level to have this new opportunity to represent my fellow Realtors. On a personal level, I am so grateful to be able to learn and grow. As a hands on, in-the-office-everyday small business owner, this national training gives me a fuller perspective of the industry I love.”
